In addition to regular programs, Hillel at SDSU has opportunities for exciting out-of-the-ordinary programming.
Mitzvah Day — Each year we partner with service organizations all over San Diego County for a day of service work to better the greater San Diego community. Mitzvah Day got its start in 1996 and has become one of our cornerstone programs. We work diligently with the Jewish Student Union in partnering with various campus and student groups, giving the whole SDSU poplulation a chance to get involved in this program. Service projects range in location from North County down to Chula Vista, and in content from Senior Centers to Beach Clean-ups. This experience continues to be an unforgettable one.
Retreats – Three times over the course of the academic year students have the opportunity to attend a weekend long retreat. The retreats provide an intimate setting in which students can explore judaism, nature, and create lasting bonds with other participants. Retreat locations vary from the Julian forests to the Mountains of Big Bear. Retreats are highly subsizdized and the experience is invaluable.
